Travel & Directions

It’s easy to get to Marwell. Our postcode is SO21 1JH if you’re driving, or there are helpful bus and bike connections. We’re on the fringe of the South Downs National Park and well connected!

Marwell Zoo is pretty big (140 acres of beautiful Hampshire parkland to explore) and we recommend that you allow at least 4-5 hours for your visit.

It might be a stretch to say that all roads lead to Marwell but the park is within easy reach of two motorways and rail stations and only 8 miles from Winchester. If you’re looking for things to do in the Bournemouth (40 miles) or Southampton (10 miles) areas it’s the perfect choice. We’re also just a stone’s throw from the New Forest (16 miles) and Portsmouth (19 miles).

Marwell’s postcode is SO21 1JHWe are situated just off the B2177 between Colden Common and Bishops Waltham. Just follow the large brown tourist signs. If you’re planning a motorway route, then head off the M3 at J11 or the M27 at J10 (westbound) or J5 (eastbound).

  • FREE parking
There’s plenty of free parking at the zoo, however, make sure you take all your valuables with you since we don’t accept any responsibility or liability for theft or damage. Cars must be parked sensibly and Marwell Wildlife does not accept any liability for damage or loss to vehicles.
  • Car sharing
On busy days our car park can fill up, so to avoid delays please car share if you can.
  • Please don’t leave pets in cars
Clearly we love animals so request that you leave all dogs and other pets at home and don’t leave them to suffer in your car. When we find pets in cars we contact the police.  Scenterbarks is a local dog daycare centre in Otterbourne (10 mins away) from 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
  • Help the environment
Please consider leaving your car at home and travelling by bus.

P.S. If you’re looking for Marwell Activity Centre, they’re just down the road from us. From Fishers Pond – keep going and they are at the next turning on the left.

If you’re travelling to the zoo via Bluestar Z00 and Stagecoach 69 you can get £11 zoo tickets! Just show your valid bus ticket at the zoo admissions gate. Read more.
