Addax
Supremely adapted to the Sahara desert, the last viable wild population of addax Addax nasomaculatus is critically endangered following uncontrolled hunting and now numbers just 200 – 300 animals spanning areas of Chad and Niger.
We support efforts to monitor and safeguard this population, and have been involved in the reintroduction of addax to Tunisia. Here, we continue to monitor animals in Djebil and Senghar National Parks as part of wider initiatives to manage populations of large mammals and restore their aridland environments.
